My name is Nancy Mangum. For the past 10 years I have worked in education. During my tenure as a classroom teacher I taught several grade levels in the elementary school. During my time in the classroom I realized that teaching was a tough job and some days I felt totally overwhelmed and stressed out. Much of my stress was due to the fact that I wanted to make sure I was the best teacher I could be in order to ensure that my students had what they needed to succeed. I used technology in my classroom and was always looking for new and exciting ways to teach my curriculum. After a few years I became increasingly frustrated with the lack of innovation in our schools and the lack of opportunity teachers had to learn about how to bring innovation to their classrooms. Amongst frustration and burnout I decided to take a job as a technology faciliator at a large elementary school. And that is when my world changed!
My goal today is to effect change in our schools by training teachers to use and integrate web 2.0 tools and other technology into their every day teaching practices. It is my hope that through the use of technology, teachers will find the joy in teaching and ignite passion for learning in their students.
